Pub Tills

Key questions to consider when purchasing a pub till-

Does my pub till need an individual preset button for each product that I sell? Having an individual preset button for each product you sell has several advantages. Firstly, it speeds up the time taken to process sales - bar staff don't have to remember all the prices in their heads and then type each price into the till. With preset products buttons on your register there is less chance of a mistake being made. Any cash register which has hot keys will enable some type of reporting so you can see how many of each preset you have sold.

How many products (and therefore product buttons) does my pub till need to have? Pub tills vary in the number of preset product buttons they can offer, the best till for product buttons would be the SPS 2200 Touch Screen. Touch screens are very flexible in how they can be set up - so can be customised to suit your pub menu. Alternatives to touch screen pub tills include the Sam4s ER-940 which has 110 presets or hotkeys.

Does my pub till need to the ability to issue a receipt with the pub details on the header message? Very basic cash registers are limited in the information provided on the receipt. At the very least we recommend ordering a till with the capacity to have your pub name on the receipt header - the receipt can then be switched off and issued at customer request, for customers on businesses lunches or expenses.

Does my pub till need the cashier interrupt function? Cashier interrupt is a popular feature for busy pubs, which is often overlooked when purchasing a cheap cash register in a cash & carry. Cashier interrupt allows more than one operator to have an open sale on the cash register at any one time. So if one cashier opens a sale then wanders off to pour 4 pints of ale or make some coffees other cashiers can still use the register without effecting the first cashiers open sale.

Do I need an audit roll? An audit roll is a useful function, as it records every single transaction (including 'No Sales', 'Voids', Refunds' etc.) so can be for locating and resolving cash discrepancies.

Do I require a pub till with the table tracking functionality?  Table tracking (or table management) functionality is vital if your pub allows customers to order for their table and only pay for their meals and drinks once they have finished.

Can I add a kitchen printer to my pub till system? If you serve food it might be useful to have a kitchen printer so that food orders are printed directly into the kitchen - rather than the order been taken on a note pad then passed to the kitchen.
